1920's concert raises over £5,000

A 1920’s themed concert held at Eaton Park, Eccleston, last Thursday (October 1st) has raised more than £5,000 for the CMA.

The concert, entitled Perchance to Dream, featured mezzo soprano Louise Winter, baritone Ed Hartwell Jones and pianist John Gough in the Wolfe Room at the Eaton Estate. All 170 tickets were sold.  The venue was given to the charity by kind permission of the Duke and Duchess of Westminster.

The concert, attended by many guests in period costume, was organised by CMA member Lynn Hedgecoe, from Beeston.

On arrival guests were met in the courtyard with a display of vintage cars and given a warm welcome by butlers and period hostesses, serving cocktails and canapés in the Long Room.  The theme continued with Nick Bradley, a talented saxophonist  from Abbey Gate College, providing pre-concert entertainment. Evocative footage from many silent films of the time was also shown.

The event was introduced by Michael Redfern QC, who spoke about his family experience of cardiomyopathy.  This was followed by a recital of music and songs of the1920’s.

Lynn said she was delighted with the wonderful response to the evening and overcome by the generosity of guests and supporters who helped raise this substantial sum for the charity.

Money raised from the evening will go towards medical conferences.
