Kate cycles to Paris in support of young patients

Cardiac physiologist Kate Sanders is cycling from London to Paris to raise money in support of her patients.

Kate, 26, from Cambridge is doing the five-day trip to raise money for the Cardiomyopathy Association.

Kate, who started her job at Addenbrookes Hospital last September, said: “My new role has made me appreciate how many young people are affected by cardiomyopathy and how much support they and their families get from the charity.

“Many people don’t realise that heart problems are not just for the old or caused by an unhealthy lifestyle.”

She said: “I started to cycle as a cheap way of getting to work but started to love it so I have looked for bigger and better cycle challenges.”

Kate set off from south east London on Wednesday to cycle to Dover to catch the ferry to Calais and stay overnight in Arras and Compiegne.  Her route will take her through the Parisian streets past the Arc de Triumph and the Eiffel Tower. She will also be sight-seeing in Paris before getting the Eurostar train back to London on July 5th.

Kate is joining an organised trip so will be cycling with other like-minded people looking for a challenge and wanting to raise money for charity.  She hopes to raise £1,500 for the Cardiomyopathy Association.
