The Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA) has funded cardiomyopathy nurse specialists in London, Glasgow. Belfast, and Sheffield.
The charity funds these posts to provide a direct benefit to patients and families in the UK. The nurses have a key role in assisting the patient, assessing the family tree, explaining investigations and treatments and providing a point of contact for future needs.
The nurses are employed in the cardiomyopathy clinics at the following hospitals:
The Heart Hospital in London (Simon Waller, pictured).
The Western Infirmary, Glasgow and Royal Alexandra, Paisley (Joan Anusas).
The Royal Hospitals, Belfast (Joanne McOsker).
The Northern General Hospital, Sheffield (Rachel Walker).
The NHS has recently taken over funding the nurses' posts in Belfast and Scotland and the charity is working hard to raise funds to allow us to fund more nurses throughout the UK in the future.
