The CMA is planning to expand its volunteer network and is looking for more people willing to help.

The charity already has many active supporters who raise funds and highlight the work of the charity in their local area. But it needs more. So how can you help? Here are some of the ways. 

Community events volunteers

Can you spare some time at a local community event and help promote the CMA for our 20th anniversary?  If so, we would love to hear from you.  We would like help with:

• Giving out information about the work of the CMA
• Taking names and addresses of members of the public interested in learning more about the charity
• Promoting events and fundraising initiatives
• Selling CMA raffle tickets
• Selling Christmas cards (seasonal)

Also, if you know of any good community events that you feel the CMA should attend, please do let us know.

Community events volunteer co-ordinator

If you are interested in co-ordinating the planning of community events around the country, please get in touch.  The volunteer role would include:

• Researching community events around the UK
• Compiling a calendar of events that CMA volunteers could attend
• Liaising with the CMA in search of volunteers and for promotional materials to be mailed for specific dates etc

If you are organised and have some spare time, you could greatly help the CMA team achieve a greater presence in the community in our 20th anniversary year.

Fundraising groups

Would you be interested in being part of a local fundraising group?  We are keen to form groups who can help promote the CMA locally by organising events.  Our 20th anniversary is an ideal opportunity to raise our profile on a more local level.

Event committee members

The CMA is currently planning events for 2009/10 in the following areas:
Redruth – fire walk
Manchester – gala dinner
(other venues to be determined)

If you are interested in being on an organising committee for one of the events, please let us know.

Street collection volunteers

If you are happy helping with a street collection near your home, do get in touch. It would be great if you could also recruit someone to collect with you.  It is important that you contact the CMA to inform us that you would like to collect, as a permit will need to be requested by the CMA in advance.  It will be really useful if you could inform us of a good location near you for a street collection.

Street collection volunteer co-ordinator

We are looking for someone who is able to co-ordinate national street collections.  You can be home-based or work in the Chesham office and the volunteer role will include:

• Requesting collection permits from supermarkets or councils
• Liaising with the CMA to recruit volunteers to collect
• Ensuring that collectors know of their collection times and have their permits etc
  Informing the supermarkets/councils of the amounts made

Collection box volunteers

Volunteers are needed to:

• Distribute collection boxes locally in shops, pubs and other public places
• Record the collection box numbers and the venues that they are left at
• Collect collection boxes when they need emptying
• Count the monies collected with a second person present

Training and support will be given in all volunteer roles.
