Assistance from our cardiomyopathy support nurse

The charity has a cardiomyopathy support nurse, Jane Grant, who, as well as giving advice to patients, is able to help advise medical staff.  She is also available to give talks to medical professionals.  Email Jane Grant or call her on 01494 791224.

Our affected volunteers can support your patients

Medical staff can also access our network of affected volunteers who provide support to others over the telephone or by email.  We have volunteers with each of the three main types of cardiomyopathy.  They vary in age from 21 to over 60.  Many have biventricular pacemakers and internal defibrillators (ICDs).  Others have had treatments including a myectomy, septal ablation and heart transplant.  Also on the network are women who have had peripartum cardiomyopathy - including one who has made a complete recovery and another who has had a transplant. All have undegone brief training with the charity. For more details, email Sarah Dennis or call her on 01494 791224.

Our support groups

The CMA has around 20 support groups around the UK. For more details of our support groups, see here or email Sarah Dennis or call her on 01494 791224

Medical conferences

Every May the CMA holds a national medical conference on cardiomyopathy that is attended by doctors from all over the UK and also from abroad.  More details
