Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle. It affects people of all ages and is mostly inherited. It is not curable but can usually be treated successfully, with most of those affected going on to lead a long and full life.
There are several different types of cardiomyopathy. The CMA produces free booklets on each of the three main types of cardiomyopathy - hypertrophic, dilated and arrhythmogenic right ventricular - and information on all types can be found below. There are also pages about living with cardiomyopathy, medical articles, patient stories and presentations by cardiomyopathy experts.
The Cardiomyopathy Association is a UK charity that receives no government funding. It costs us £410,000 each year to provide our services and we need your support to help us continue providing these free services to help families affected by cardiomyopathy.
