Barnsley FC promotes walk in memory of two fans

Barnsley Football Club has been helping to promote a charity walk for the CMA.

In its website news section, the club has featured details of the walk being organised in memory of father and son supporters John and Robert Cooper.

It is also due to be featured in a matchday programme.

Both men died suddenly from the heart muscle disease cardiomyopathy and are being remembered in a walk from Barnsley Football Club to Huddersfield on Saturday, May 4th.

Robert Cooper appeared fit and well when he died unexpectedly in 2010 aged 25. His father John died from the same condition in 2012 aged 63.  Both were season ticket holders at Oakwell.

Now family, friends and fellow Barnsley supporters are to walk 19 miles from the stadium to the John Smith Stadium in Huddersfield where the team are playing that day. They are raising money for the CMA’s Robert and John Cooper Tribute Fund.

The walk has been organised by family friend Kimberley Binns. She and 18 other walkers will set off at 5am to be in good time to reach Huddersfield for the 12.45pm kick off.
