Family and friends of Graeme Barrow, who died suddenly after completing the London Marathon in 1991, are holding a 10th golf day in his memory next month.
The annual event is being held this year at the Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club in Chorley, Lancs, on September 3rd.
More than 50 golfers are expected to take part during the day which includes prizes for various holes and a raffle. In the evening there will be a meal with surprise guests and a speaker.
Graeme’s brother Paul said : “This year is our tenth event it brings those together who shared special times with our brother. More or less the same 50 guys who came to the first event are still coming, having not missed a single get-together over the years. We want to make this as good as all the rest – if not better.
Graeme, who died from cardiomyopathy aged 34, was a well-known sportsman in the area and was a duty manager at a local leisure centre. He was running the marathon to raise money for motor neurone disease, a condition that his mother Shelia had just died of.
