New cycle challenge in memory of Alex

New cycle challenge in memory of Alex

A cycle marathon in memory of a young man who died from cardiomyopathy is being repeated this year….with the addition of two 5km runs.

The Kaiser Challenge, begun by Alex Kaiser’s fiancée Sarah Hoare, raised over £55,000 last year, with half going to the CMA. Seventy cyclists rode 215 miles in three days.

Now Sarah (pictured right) is organising a new challenge called Run>Ride>Run on July 6th from Bristol Suspension Bridge around the city’s surrounding villages to Nempnett Thrubwell near Blagdon and asking others to join up.

It will begin with a 5km run in Ashton Court, then a 50mile cycle ride and then another 5km cross country around the Mendips.

In urging others to join in, Sarah said: “It will bring you new friends, pride, and a sense of personal achievement while helping me and all Kaiser’s friends and family to do an amazing thing in the name of a truly one in a million fiancé.”

Sarah, who was due to marry Alex two months after he died aged 28, said: “Last year it was an amazing achievement not only physically, but also for building something so positive in a time of devastation. The celebration of life that followed, including a fundraising bar-tab, was one that befitted the man we had lost - full of love, life and laughs.”

This time the event will be solely for the CMA.
