More and more cardiomyopathy support groups are being launched around the country, with the backing of the CMA.
New groups have just been launched in Devon, East Sussex and Middlesex this year, and another is being launched in Cornwall on Saturday, June 23rd. Others are also being planned in other areas.
The East Sussex group (the organisers are pictured) held its first meeting at St Martha's Church Hall, Cooden Sea Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, on Monday, April 30th. The next meeting is at the hall on Monday, June 25th.
The Middlesex group, being run by CMA member Vince Clarke, held its first meeting on May 15th at Northolt Village Community Centre. Dates of future meetings have yet to be set.
The Cornwall group, which has its first meeting at 2pm on Saturday, June 23rd, at Chacewater Village Hall near Truro is being run by Emma Kemp and Sue Chapple, who both have the condition (and are pictured with the poster advertising their first meeting). The main speaker will be CMA chief executive and medical director Robert Hall.
The Devon group met for the first time at the Castle Centre, Castle Street, Barnstaple, in February, and has been having regular meetings since.
The CMA has other support groups in Darlington, Birmingham, Northampton, East Anglia, Essex, Devon, Scotland (meetings in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen), Swansea and the Dungannon area of Northern Ireland.
