North London has its first support group thanks to CMA member Jane Barnett.
The group had its first meeting in January 2009 and now meets every two months on Saturdays at 3pm in the Day Hospital of Finchley Memorial Hospital - N12 0JE.
At the next meeting, on Saturday, March 6th, 2010 at Finchley Memorial, Angelle Bryon will talk to us about the Expert Patients Programme, which provides opportunities for people who live with long-term chronic conditions to develop new skills to manage their condition better on a day-to-day basis and to take more control of their life.
The programme is designed to help patients gain self-confidence in their ability to control their symptoms and find new ways to reduce the negative effect their health problems have on their lives.
The support group, which meets several times a year, aims to provide affected families with more information about the condition and a chance to meet others who are affected. Family members and friends are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided.
