The CMA has a network of volunteers affected by cardiomyopathy who provide support to others on the telephone and by email.
Over 70 volunteers, who have all undergone brief training with the CMA, are on the network. They include everyone from teenagers to the retired, parents of affected children and partners of affected people. They also include women who developed cardiomyopathy in pregnancy.
The volunteers have various types of cardiomyopathy. Some are on drug treatments only and others have been through other treatments, including alcohol ablations, cardioversions and myectomies. Others have biventricular pacemakers and internal cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). A few have had heart transplants.
Some of our volunteers have lost family members, including children to cardiomyopathy.
If you would like to speak to one of our volunteers, call Sarah Dennis at the CMA on 01494 791224 or email her.
