A London musical is to help raise funds for the Cardiomyopathy Association in memory of former footballer Mitchell Cole.
Part of the fee for 200 tickets of a performance of WAG! The Musical at Charing Cross Theatre next month will come to the charity.
Mitchell, who used to play for teams including Stevenage, Oxford, Southend, died in December aged 27 from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Supporter Damian Cullen, who is behind the initiative, worked with Mitchell’s aunt Hazel Williams and has an interest in the condition.
The charity performance is on Thursday, July 25th at 7.30pm. Tickets, including an after show drink provided by the theatre, are £35. Organisers are also looking for prizes for a raffle or auction after the show.
The musical is set in a city centre department store and follows a day in the life of two women who become friends while working on the cosmetics counter, meeting a wide range of customers.
The main characters are Jenny, who is the mistress of a Premier League footballer, and girl-next-door Sharron. It stars West End and Broadway actor Tim Flavin, whose previous credits include the musicals On Your Toes and Singin’ in the Rain, media personality Lizzie Cundy and footballer’s wife Pippa Fulton. There is a special guest appearance by comic creation Ariadne the Greek WAG.
Written by Belvedere Pashun, it features a host of memorable songs and glamorous characters. The producers are Peter Frosdick and Paul Nicholas and it is directed by Allison Pollard.
