The Yorkshire Cardiomyopathy Support Group was set up in 2009 and has held two meetings at the St John the Divine Church Hall, Denby Dale Road West, Calder Grove, West Yorks, WF4 3FG. This is close to Junction 39 of the M1.
The group, which meets quarterly on Tuesday evenings, was set up following the Cardiomyopathy Information Day in Leeds earlier in the year, and is supported by the CMA funded nurse specialist Rachel Walker, who works at the South Yorkshire Cardiac Centre in Sheffield.
The next meeting is being held on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010, 7.30pm at the Novartis Educational Facility, D Floor, Chesterman Unit, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. Dr Nigel Wheeldon. The speaker will be Dr Nigel Wheeldon, from the South Yorkshire Regional Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service.
Other dates for 2010 have been provisionally agreed as May 4th, August 3rd and November 2nd. Meetings may be held at other venues. A social event with a BBQ in the summer and a fundraising event are also planned.
The group is hoping to have speakers in 2010 including a financial advisor, physiotherapist,pharmacist and a heart failure nurse.
