Welcome to Cardiomyopathy UK

Welcome to the new Cardiomyopathy UK website. The site has been redeveloped to make it much easier for you to find information on cardiomyopathy and details of the services we provide to help you.  The website is an important example of the changes we are putting in place to increase the support we offer to people affected by cardiomyopathy.

The changes have come about thanks to our supporters and what they tell us they want from us. We are very proud of what we have achieved in the first 25 years of the charity’s existence but we knew there were many more people affected by cardiomyopathy who we were not reaching.

Over 1,000 people gave us feedback on our work and what they would like us to focus on.  This helped us set the following goals:  providing increased levels of support, improving diagnosis and providing support for finding a cure by promoting research. Our new website, with more accessible and clearer information, is just one way we are increasing our support work.

We have also created a new position of medical director.  This role will focus solely on the charity’s information, support and educational work. These include the helpline, online support, information for patients and medical staff, cardiomyopathy information days, support groups, support volunteers and educational exhibitions and conferences. The medical director will also develop our links with hospitals to increase the availability of our information materials and work more closely with cardiologists across the UK and beyond.

This new post will be filled by the current chief executive, Robert Hall.  A new chief executive, Joel Rose, took up his position in May.  Joel is responsible for day to day management, ensuring we can show the value and impact of our work. He is also focusing on developing the charity through increasing our income to enable further growth of services.
