A new cardiomyopathy support group was launched at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle at the weekend.
Over 50 people attended the first meeting which was organised by CMA members Cathy Stark and Sue Saunders.
Cathy said: "We were amazed at the turn out and received some very positive feedback."
Many other local members helped to raise awareness of the meeting by ensuring posters were displayed in local hospitals and clinics.
CMA chief executive Robert Hall gave a talk on the various types of cardiomyopathy and
the treatment and management of the conditions. He also gave the group an overview of the work of the
Cardiomyopathy Association.
