Nurses' conference on cardiomyopathy

A one day seminar for nurses on the diagnosis and management of cardiomyopathy is being held in London in November.

The event, being organised by Cardiomyopathy UK with support from the inherited heart disease team at Barts Heart Centre and other medical staff, is at the Cavendish Conference Centre in Duchess Mews, London W1G 9DT on Friday, 20 November.

The day includes talks on the diagnosis and management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. There are also sessions on left ventricular noncompaction, managing patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), cardiomyopathy in pregnancy, medicine management in the community and the role of the cardiomyopathy support nurse.

Also included are patients talking about their experiences of dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and living with an ICD.

Speakers include Professor Perry Elliott, Dr Kate von Klemper, Dr Costas O’Mahoney and Dr Antonis Pantazis from Barts, Dr William Bradlow from University Hospitals Birmingham, and Sue Jones, the ICD service manager at St George’s University Hospitals, London.
