We're delighted to announce the full programme for our 2016 national cardiomyopathy conference, 'Knowing more, living better'.

The November conference will be our biggest event to date and will feature talks, presentations and discussions from cardiomyopathy experts, medical professionals and people with the condition. You'll also have a chance to meet others with the condition, get advice on living with cardiomyopathy and hear the latest research news. 

Welcome and medical sessions

After a welcome from our chair of trustees, Alison Fielding, Cardiomyopathy UK support group leader, Cathy Stark, will talk about her experiences of life with cardiomyopathy.

Following that there will be medical sessions on the 6 of the main types of cardiomyopathy for you to choose from:-

  • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy - Dr Sam Mohiddin & Colin McVittie
  • Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy - Prof Perry Elliott & Tina Amiss
  • Peripartum cardiomyopathy - Dr Dawn Adamson & Joanne Farrell
  • Dilated cardiomyopathy - Dr Sam Mohiddin & Alison Fielding
  • Restrictive cardiomyopathy - Prof Perry Elliott
  • Left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC) - Dr Costas O'Mahony & Nigel Stafford

As well as a session on the genetics of cardiomyopathy lead by Prof Ruth Newbury-Ecob.

Q&A, workshops and awards

In the afternoon, following a medical questions and answers session and a break for lunch, Professor Perry Elliot will talk about research and what’s new in cardiomyopathy.

It's then we'll have our workshop sessions where you can choose from a variety of topics, presentations, talks, and discussions from people with cardiomyopathy who will all be sharing their personal stories and experiences.

We'll close with a thank you and awards ceremony and after that there will be an opportunity to meet the Cardiomyopathy UK team and get an update on everything going on at the charity.
