New cardiomyopathy support group starts in Cumbria

9th February 2017

A new cardiomyopathy group is starting in Penrith, Cumbria next month.

The new Cumbria Cardiomyopathy Support Group will provide more information about cardiomyopathy and living better with the condition.

The first meeting is on Wednesday, 1 March, from 7pm to 9pm at Penrith Evergreen Community Centre, Bluebell Lane, Penrith CA11 7LH.  Those affected by the disease and family and friends are welcome.

The main speaker will be heart genetics nurse Julie Goodfellow, from the Northern Genetics Service.  Cardiomyopathy usually runs in families and Julie will be talking about the genetics of the disease and the testing of family members.  There will also be a Q & A about cardiomyopathy.

The group also offers affected families the chance to meet others to share experiences.

The meeting is being hosted by Cardiomyopathy UK youth and peer support manager Jo Franks and volunteers Angela and Louise.
