New West London support group

1st June 2015

A new cardiomyopathy support group for families affected by cardiomyopathy is starting in West London in July.

The group, being launched by Cardiomyopathy UK supporter Willson Hau, is having its first meeting on Tuesday, 14 July, 7pm.

West London Cardiomyopathy Support Group

The first meeting of the West London Cardiomyopathy Support Group will be at St Stephen's Church and Centre, St Stephen's Road, Ealing, London W13 8HB.

Willson, who has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), said: “When I was diagnosed in 2011 I found Cardiomyopathy UK’s resources and information days really helpful and I greatly appreciated the opportunity to meet others at my local support group.

“Now that is not running anymore, I thought I’d try to set up one in Ealing where I live.”

Willson, who has apical HCM (thickening at the apex of the heart), wants the group to provide people with more information about cardiomyopathy and offer members the chance to meet and share experiences with others.  He is also keen to hear ideas and suggestions for the group, and to work with everyone to make the group a fun and supportive set up.

Those affected by the condition and family members and friends are welcome.
