A good night’s sleep has established benefits. It enhances physical health and emotional wellbeing. Disturbed sleep can affect our mood, judgement, ability to learn and our memory.

Most adults need around eight hours sleep a night to be on their best form, but this can vary from person to person.

Insomnia and sleep disorders affect most people at some point in their lives. Many people with cardiomyopathy have problems sleeping.  It can also be a problem for family members.

Common causes include:

  • stress
  • anxiety
  • medication side effects
  • breathing problems.
