2019 National Conference round-up

21st November 2019

On 9 November 2019 we held our annual National Conference in London with the aim—as always with our conferences—for people to leave more knowledgeable, more confident and a little more hopeful for the future.

We welcomed an unprecedented 235 attendees to our conference this year - many are living with cardiomyopathy, either having it themselves or supporting someone with the condition. We were also fortunate enough to have so many fantastic and engaging speakers this year, with over 18 presentations given.

At the end of every conference, we ask that attendees leave feedback so that we can improve for next year. We were thrilled with the responses we received:

  • 97% of attendees felt that they know more as a result of coming to the Conference
  • 72% of attendees reported that the conference had helped them to better understand, manage and live well with cardiomyopathy
  • 84% told us they would definitely attend another conference

We also celebrated those who have made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of cardiomyopathy. We are grateful for all of the hard work and support we receive, and these awards recognise those efforts.

Our 2019 award winners are:

  • The Carolyn Biro Founder's Award - Rita Sutton
  • The Impact Award - Richard Mindham
  • The Community Award - Tony Hampson
  • The Ronald Raven Award for Clinical Excellence - Dr Eleanor Wicks
  • The Fundraising Award - The Deakin Family

Finally, we'd like to give a massive thank you to everyone who attended our conference and all those that have supported us as a charity this year. We are eternally grateful for all your hard work and support, and we can't wait to make the conference bigger and better next year!
