Dharambir Singh's Captain Tom 100 Challenge

30th April 2021

This weekend, thousands of fundraisers across the nation are taking on the Captain Tom 100 Challenge for their chosen charity. Dharambir Singh Dhadyalla is one of these inspiring people. Supporting Cardiomyopathy UK through his fundraising, Dharambir has set himself the challenge of playing 100 Ragas on the Sitar over the weekend.

"Cardiomyopathy UK's support is invaluable for people like me."

Dharambir has Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and an ICD fitted. Feeling motivated to support Cardiomyopathy UK and to help others receive the support that he has had, Dharambir decided to set up a JustGiving page for the Captain Tom 100 Challenge.

Between 30th April and 3rd May, Dharambir will be playing 100 Ragas on the Sitar and uploading these onto his YouTube and Facebook channels, in the hope of inspiring others. With a love for music, he says: "The important message is that, a musician like me would not be able to play and express if not supported by the NHS and Cardiomyopathy UK, who have continued support me with my Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy."

Dharambir also says, "Since my diagnosis, I have learnt a lot about this condition. Through the Cardiomyopathy UK newsletter and their Facebook page, I can see that I am not the only one who has felt supported. The annual conference organised by Cardiomyopathy UK is so important to bring the cutting edge information to the community. I am honoured to be of worth to support this important work. Cardiomyopathy UK's support is invaluable for people like me".

So far Dharambir has raised an incredible £1938 on his JustGiving page, far exceeding his original target of £100. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Dharambir and everyone who has kindly supported his fundraising.
