Benefits and Welfare Advice

Help with money, work, and support – if you’re 18 or over

Living with cardiomyopathy can affect different parts of your life – not just your health. It might impact your energy, your ability to work or study, or even your living situation. If that’s the case, you might be able to get extra support to help you stay independent and financially secure.

What kind of support is out there?

If you’re over 18, you may be entitled to benefits or financial support depending on your situation – for example, if:

  • You’re unable to work or study full-time because of your health
  • You have extra costs related to your condition
  • You need support with day-to-day activities
  • You’re on a low income or struggling to afford the basics

We can help

Our Benefits and Welfare Advice Service is here to help you understand what support you might be entitled to – and how to get it. We can:

  • Explain what benefits might apply to you (like Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Universal Credit, or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA))
  • Help you fill in forms and understand the process
  • Support you if you’ve been turned down and want to appeal
  • Talk through your situation without judgment or pressure

You don’t need to figure this stuff out alone – we’re here to make it easier.

Email services@cardiomyopathy.org to be put in touch with our benefits and Welfare Advisors. They can get in touch with you quickly to discuss what support you need.

Use our benefits tools

We’ve teamed up with Turn2Us to bring you easy-to-use online tools you can try anytime:

  • Benefits Calculator – to see what you might be able to claim
  • Grants Search Tool – to find one-off grants that don’t need to be paid back
  • PIP Checker – to help you understand if PIP could apply to you
