We’re thrilled to announce that applications for the next round of our cardiomyopathy research grants are now open.
At Imperial College London, Dr Arunashis Sau is testing a new AI tool which analyses routine heart recordings to predict risk. At University College London and Great Ormond Street Hospital, Professor Juan Pablo Kaski is looking at how hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) progresses in the hope of identifying new targets for treatments.
These fantastic projects were made possible by our first Catalyst Grant round in 2025 – now it’s time to do it again.
New ideas, new opportunities
Our Catalyst Grants are intended for researchers to test new ideas, develop proof-of-concept studies or gather data that could help them attract further investment from other sources.
Each Catalyst Grant can fund projects of up to 24 months, with awards of up to £25,000. Applications are open to researchers working across the cardiomyopathy research landscape – including clinical, non‑clinical and allied health professionals.
Researchers have until midday on Wednesday 8th July to submit applications.

Keeping our community at the heart of research
Our vision is that everyone with cardiomyopathy lives a long and fulfilling life.
As part of this, we’re committed to making sure that the voices of people affected by the condition are heard in research. We strongly encourage Patient and Public Involvement (PPI), and the projects we fund address the research priorities identified through our Priority Setting Partnership.
All applications we receive are assessed both by peer reviewers and people affected by cardiomyopathy.
Time to talk
If you’re interested in applying for a Catalyst Grant, we’ll be holding a webinar and Q&A at 4pm on Wednesday 6th May. You can submit questions in advance to research@cardiomyopathy.org.
Register for the webinar
We’re also offering researchers the opportunity to join Catalyst Connections in June. These are informal online meetings with people affected by cardiomyopathy where you can discuss your proposals.
