We’re pleased to share that Cardiomyopathy UK has been awarded the Patient Information Forum’s PIF TICK accreditation.

There’s a lot of health information online, and it isn’t always clear what’s evidence-based or up to date. When you see the PIF TICK logo on our website or resources, it’s a sign that the information has been produced to recognised quality standards – so you can feel more confident it’s reliable, accurate and trustworthy.

Why PIF TICK matters to Cardiomyopathy UK

Our aim is to help people affected by cardiomyopathy understand their condition and the care available to them. That means producing information that is clear, supportive and grounded in the best available evidence.

PIF TICK recognises the quality and consistency of our approach, and it reinforces our commitment to providing information you can trust.

What it means for you

The PIF TICK logo makes it quicker and easier to spot trusted information. High-quality, accessible, evidence-based information can help you to:

  • understand cardiomyopathy and what it may mean for you or your family
  • feel more confident asking questions and discussing options with your care team
  • find support when you need it
  • be more involved in decisions about your care and wellbeing

How we achieved PIF TICK accreditation

PIF TICK is awarded following a detailed application and assessment by the Patient Information Forum. To be accredited, we had to demonstrate that the way we plan, write, review and update our health information meets PIF’s essential criteria for trustworthy patient information.

How we create trustworthy information

We follow a clear, consistent process when producing health information. In practice, that means we:

  1. Start with a real user need
We identify what people affected by cardiomyopathy most want to know and what would be genuinely helpful.
  2. Use up-to-date, credible evidence
We base our information on reliable sources and clinical guidance, and we check that it reflects current understanding.
  3. Write for clarity and accessibility
We aim for plain English, explain medical terms, and consider different literacy, language and access needs.
  4. Involve people with lived experience
Where possible, we include feedback from people affected by cardiomyopathy to help ensure our information is practical and relevant.
  5. Make it easy to find and use
We structure information clearly, use helpful headings, and present it in formats that work for different audiences.
  6. Make feedback simple
We welcome comments and corrections so we can improve and keep information accurate.
  7. Share information so it reaches the right people
We promote resources through appropriate channels so more people can benefit from them.
  8. Review and improve over time
We monitor how our information is used and update it when evidence or guidance changes.

Where you’ll see the PIF TICK logo

You’ll see the PIF TICK logo on information that has been produced using the process above. Over time, you’ll notice it appearing across more of our website content and resources as we continue to review and update our information.
