New partnership with Marie Curie: palliative care, explained and accessible

News 14 November 2025

Cardiomyopathy UK has joined forces with Marie Curie to raise awareness of palliative care and the difference it can make for people living with heart conditions.

Together, we’re launching a new initiative to help people understand that palliative care isn’t only for the very end of life. It’s about improving quality of life, managing symptoms, and helping people and families plan ahead with confidence and support.

As part of the partnership, we’ll be hosting a joint webinar next year for people affected by cardiomyopathy and their families. The session will explore what palliative care really means, how to access it, and how it can help people live well for longer.

For many, the term palliative care can sound daunting. It’s often misunderstood as meaning “giving up,” when in fact it’s about comfort and dignity. By partnering with Marie Curie, one of the UK’s leading experts in end-of-life and palliative care, we hope to break down some of those misconceptions and open up honest, reassuring conversations.

Through this partnership, we’ll be developing new resources and information to share across both organisations’ websites, including practical advice for patients and carers, tips on starting conversations with healthcare teams, and stories from people who have benefited from early access to palliative care.

“This collaboration is about making sure people with cardiomyopathy know that palliative care is for them too,” says Becca, Chief Operating Officer of Cardiomyopathy UK, “it’s about empowerment, choice and support.”
