For over 30 years, we’ve supported people affected by cardiomyopathy. In 2026, we took a big step forward and starting funding our very own research for the first time.
Our Catalyst Grants
Catalyst Grants are awards of up to £25,000 for early-stage research projects of up to two years. People working right across the spectrum of cardiomyopathy research – both clinical and non-clinical – can apply for one.
The money allows researchers to test new ideas and gather the early evidence they need to get more funding. This means that more cardiomyopathy researchers have the potential to access larger investments in the future from key funders, such as big charities and the government.

How we involve the cardiomyopathy community
Each Catalyst Grant application is reviewed by people affected by cardiomyopathy, as well as by peer reviewers. This makes sure that the views and lived experiences of our community are kept at the heart of our research.
The projects we fund must also address the priorities we decided on through our Priority Setting Partnership with the James Lind Alliance – where we sat down with people affected by cardiomyopathy, carers and healthcare professionals to find out which areas of research matter most to our community.

Our Research Appeal 2026
In August, we launched an awareness and fundraising campaign about our Catalyst Grants.
We're grateful to everyone who donated, shared their story, or shared the campaign. It all brings us closer to the possibility of better diagnosis, better treatment, and a longer, fuller life for everyone affected by cardiomyopathy.
